Takween ICD is seeking to hire a skilled Wood Workshop Production Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the wood workshop in Esna. The ideal candidate will bring technical knowledge of traditional woodwork, combined with strong leadership and organizational skills. This role is ideal for someone passionate about craftsmanship, heritage preservation, and mentoring artisans. The Workshop Manager will ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, while supporting the growth and skill development of a diverse production team.

Key Result Areas

  • Developing and overseeing production schedules to ensure timely delivery and budget      compliance.

  • Supervising the production process of handcrafted wood products, including carving, inlay, and finishing work.

  • Managing and coordinating daily operations of the workshop team, including artisans and technicians.

  • Conducting quality control inspections to ensure that products meet high-quality standards;

  • Collaborating with designers to translate design concepts into technical plans and guide prototype development.

  • Overseeing inventory management and equipment maintenance.

  • · Ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations and high standards in the workshop;

  • Managing operational and administrative tasks such as cost control, tracking staff working hours, and merchandise stockkeeping.

  • Supporting training and skill development of team members, especially youth and women artisans.

  • · Ensuring the regular maintenance and upkeep of the workshop area and assets, including materials, supplies, tools, and equipment;

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applied arts, Product Design, Industrial Design, Wood Production or a related technical field.

  • 5 – 10 years managing wood workshops and workers, technical production lines, or craft-based manufacturing units.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience managing production lines and ensuring quality control in woodwork or related crafts.

  • Strong understanding of traditional wood carving and inlay techniques.

  • Experience in supervising teams and overseeing workshop operations.

  • Previous involvement in community-based or socially driven design initiatives is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work hands-on, both independently and within a team setting in challenging work environments.

  • Detail-oriented and accountable; capable of managing complex workflows and production challenges.

  • Comfortable using digital tools for scheduling and documentation (MS Word, Excel, email; familiarity with CAD software is a plus).

  • Interest in sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and supporting local artisans, particularly women and youth.
