Takween ICD is seeking a passionate and skilled Urban Researcher to join our Urban Studies and Research Unit. The Urban Researcher will play a key role in supporting the unit's mission to deliver innovative and actionable research that addresses urban challenges in Egypt and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, practical experience in urban research, urban planning, urban design and climate resilience.
Key Result Areas
Conducting in-depth research on urban issues, including urban upgrading, sustainable urban development, and climate resilience.
Designing and implementing fieldwork activities, including urban and social surveys, site observations, and stakeholder interviews/FGDs.
Preparing high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
Developing supporting communication materials such as maps, infographics, charts, and visuals for reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
Preparing and facilitating capacity-building and participatory activities (training workshops, seminars, stakeholder consultations), including preparation of materials, co-facilitation, note-taking, and synthesis of outcomes for reporting.
Coordinating closely with the project team and partners to meet deliverable timelines.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Design/Planning, Architecture, Urban Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
Skills
5 - 7 years of professional experience in urban research, planning, or development.
Strong report-writing and documentation skills in both Arabic and English, and demonstrated experience with data collection, analysis, and visualization.
Experience working on projects related to urban upgrading and climate resilience is highly desirable.
Software
Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and GIS (optional)
