Takween ICD is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Reporting and M&E intern to support our projects by ensuring timely and accurate reporting, data collection, and research. This role requires a proactive individual with robust research and writing skills who can help track project(s) progress, gather necessary materials, and submit reports according to deadlines.

Key Result Areas

Tourism Value Chain and Market Analysis:


- Lead the ongoing assessment and mapping of tourism value chains in Esna and Dendera,

identifying gaps, opportunities, bottlenecks, and areas where the project can generate

practical improvements.

- Lead the mapping of tourism value chain in Luxor and keep it updated throughout the

project duration.

- Maintain a strong understanding of visitor flows, tourism demand, existing tourism

products, and the needs of different market actors.

- Monitor changes in the tourism market, including emerging visitor preferences, tour

operator requirements, experiential and cultural tourism trends, and opportunities for

new tourism products.

- Maintain regular communication with tour operators, DMCs, guides, and other tourism

market actors to ensure that project interventions remain connected to actual market

demand.

- Translate market and value-chain findings into practical recommendations for the

Incentive Program and tourism interventions.


Tourism Standards and Quality Assurance:


- Develop, refine, and maintain appropriate technical and tourism quality standards for

participating MSMEs and supported tourism businesses.

- Ensure that standards are practical, context-appropriate, and aligned with visitor

expectations and the requirements of relevant tourism market actors.

- Support the development of standards for different types of participating businesses and

interventions, including retail, food and beverage, hospitality, stays, and tourism

experiences.

- Review proposed interventions and tourism products against agreed standards and

provide technical recommendations for improvement.

- Monitor the quality of upgraded MSMEs and tourism experiences and recommend

corrective actions where required.

- Ensure that tourism-related interventions are aligned with relevant Ministry of Tourism

and Antiquities requirements, where applicable.


Development of Tourism Experiences:


- Lead the technical development, design, piloting, and refinement of community-based,

cultural, and experiential tourism products.

- Work with Tourism Officers, the Private Sector Engagement team, Pr-Ba, local

communities, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that experiences are authentic,

viable, visitor-ready, and marketable.

- Ensure that tourism experiences build on the cultural, heritage, and local economic assets

of Esna, Luxor, and Dendera rather than relying solely on conventional sightseeing.

- Provide technical input into interpretation, storytelling, visitor journeys, and other

elements that contribute to the quality of the visitor experience.

- Review and provide technical guidance on tourism-related aspects of physical

interventions, ensuring that renovated or upgraded MSMEs contribute effectively to the

intended visitor experience.


Engagement with Tourism Stakeholders:


- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with tourism stakeholders, i.e., tour

operators, DMCs, tourism businesses, guides, local authorities, and other relevant tourism

stakeholders.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tourism regulations, requirements, standards,

and certification processes.

- Provide technical guidance to the project team and participating MSMEs regarding

applicable MoTA requirements and certification processes.

- Support participating businesses, where relevant, in understanding and progressing

toward applicable certification or regulatory requirements.

- Represent the tourism component of the project in relevant technical meetings,

consultations, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.


Technical Oversight of the Incentive Program:


- Provide technical input into the implementation of the Incentive Program, including the

development of eligibility, assessment, and screening criteria related to tourism quality.

- Review applications and proposed interventions from a tourism development and

market-readiness perspective.

- Provide technical recommendations throughout the design and implementation process

to ensure that physical interventions support the intended tourism function and visitor

experience.

- Work closely with the Interior Designer, Renovation Manager, and other technical

specialists to ensure that physical interventions respond to tourism requirements and

visitor expectations

- Provide technical input when changes to the scope of an intervention are required to

maintain quality, feasibility, or market relevance.


Training and Capacity Building:


- Identify technical capacity-building needs among participating MSMEs and tourism

stakeholders.

- Lead or oversee tourism-related training, workshops, mentoring, and technical assistance.

- Support training related to tourism quality, customer experience, interpretation,

storytelling, hospitality, and market readiness, as relevant to the project.

- Ensure that technical knowledge and standards developed through the project are

transferred to local stakeholders and can continue to be applied beyond the project

period.


Monitoring, Learning, and Technical Adaptation:


- Monitor whether upgraded MSMEs and newly developed tourism experiences are

achieving the intended quality and market objectives.

- Identify technical gaps, emerging challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

- Provide recommendations for adapting tourism interventions and standards based on

implementation experience, visitor feedback, market feedback, and stakeholder input.


Coordination with the Project Team:


- Work closely with the Project Coordinator to ensure that tourism activities are properly

integrated into the overall project work plan and implementation schedule.

- Provide the Project Coordinator with timely technical inputs, progress updates, risks,

and recommendations related to tourism activities.

- Coordinate with other technical team members to ensure that tourism, conservation,

design, economic development, and community-related interventions are mutually

supportive.

- Participate in project planning and coordination meetings and provide technical

recommendations for decision-making.

Requirements

Qualification:


- Bachelor's degree in tourism or related discipline.


Experience & Skills:


- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in tourism,heritage, or integrated development projects.

- Demonstrated experience in developing or improving tourism products, experiences, or destinations, preferably in Egypt or a comparable heritage or community-based tourism context.

- Strong understanding of the Egyptian tourism sector and demonstrated relationships with tourism stakeholders, such as tour operators, DMCs, guides, hospitality businesses, or tourism associations.

- Experience working with MSMEs, local businesses, or community-based tourism initiatives.

- Experience in heritage, cultural, or experiential tourism is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated ability to translate tourism market needs into practical standards,

interventions, and products.

- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and across multiple project locations.

- Fluency in Arabic and English.
