About the job

A Site Foreman is responsible for ensuring that everything goes smoothly at a construction site. They are responsible for being the point of contact between the construction workers and supervisors. A few of the main duties of a foreman are coordinating tasks for the day, creating schedules for workers, oversee quality of the site, and managing the budget. They also have to report the progress of the project to superiors. Some of the jobs titles that a foreman could grow into are construction supervisor and construction manager.

Key Result Areas

  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.

  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew.

  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities.

  • Supervise and train all construction workers.

  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.

  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.

  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.

  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.

  • Resolve problems when they arise.

  • Report on progress to superiors, managers, engineers etc.

  • Be the liaison between construction workers and supervisors.

  • Solve disputes between workers.

  • Assign tasks to construction workers.

  • Ensure that the project is staying on or under budget.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary education construction training program.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering or related field is preferred.

  • Based in Esna and Office Support / Must be from Esna.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in conservation, restoration and construction, urban conservation, rehabilitation, and restoration of historic sites.

Skills:

  • Ability to organize a work schedule.

  • Ability to solve disputes between workers.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to negotiate.

  • Deep knowledge of the construction industry and processes.

  • Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints.

  • Perform quality checks on construction equipment.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with conservation measures, and work in community development context as well as USAID projects.

Competencies:

  • Ability to work under high pressure and carrying out simultaneous multi-tasks.

  • Self-motivated with high leadership, organizational and communication skills.

  • Creativity and ability to seek and explore innovative solutions.

  • Teamwork abilities and work collaboratively with other stakeholders and staff members.

  • Accountability and high commitment to the company’s quality standards and code of ethics.

Notes:

  • Site Foreman will work in Esna City – Luxor; accommodation and transportation will be covered.

  • Site Foreman preferably a resident from Luxor or Esna.

  • Site Foreman will be working in a harsh environment and structurally dilapidated buildings.
