About the job
Takween is implementing a project in Esna, “Visit Esna”. This project’s objective is to put Esna on the tourist map through several conservation, marketing and economic interventions.
A Site conservator shall care for cultural collections by applying scientific methods to preserve and restore artefacts. He provides engineering assistance working with landowners, groups and units of government to apply and maintain a variety of conservation practices. This person is responsible for providing technical guidance and the overall planning, design, installation and maintenance of the civil engineering phases of conservation activities.
Site engineers manage parts of a construction project, providing technical advice, supervising staff on site and ensuring that their packages are completed on time and within budget.

Supervising contracted staff
Ensuring project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets and/or timescales
Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other professional staff, especially quantity surveyors and the overall project manager
Providing technical advice and solving problems on site
Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork, reports which includes design calculations and plan preparation
Liaising with quantity surveyors about the ordering and the pricing of materials
Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
Site engineers work out on a construction site in all weathers and tend to work on one project at a time. Depending on the location of the project, they might need to relocate or complete a lengthy commute.
Performs, provides training for, and guidance on quality assurance, ensuring projects get carried out as designed and recommend additions as needed
Examine artefacts, both visually and using scientific tools such as x-rays, infrared photography and microscopic analysis, to determine the extent and causes of deterioration
Keep full conservation records by writing up notes on the object's condition and any previous restoration work that has been done
Produce a visual record of the object for identification purposes and to illustrate its condition
Work out creative solutions to clean, support and repair sensitive objects
Use a range of conservation instruments
Recreate historically-accurate finishes, such as mixing traditional paints from scratch
Develop and maintain appropriate professional standards within your specialist area
Keep up to date with the latest conservation techniques and practices, through research and training.
Requirements
Accredited degree in engineering: usually civil, structural Architect/conservatory.
Based in Esna and Office Support / Must be from Esna.
Experience:
3-7 years of experience in conservation, restoration and construction, urban conservation, rehabilitation, and restoration of historic sites.
