About the job
Takween Integrated Community Development is actively seeking a researcher to work on a project in the field of gender inclusive urban planning and design. The candidate is required to have a demonstrable understanding of the field of urban planning, design, and gender inclusion, and with good experience in writing comprehensive reports and papers. The position is based in Cairo for a project duration of 2 months.
Key Result Areas
Collect and analyze extant literature, data and other relevant information.
Review previous reports and studies related to the project scope.
Carry out field surveys and produce written and graphic documentation including written notes photographic documentations, videos, and sketches.
Assist in conducting workshops and seminars engaging local stakeholders, professionals, and public audience.
Communicate complex information and research outcomes clearly in both writing and presentations.
Communication and Reporting
Assist the Project Manager in documenting projects’ results; and collecting written and graphic materials to produce different reports, communication materials and presentations.
Attend regular coordination meetings with project staff, consultants, donors, clients, and beneficiaries as required, and report on a regular basis progress of activities to the Project Manager.
B. Sc. in development studies, or equivalent university degree in related area of study (Master's degree is an advantage)
5-7 years of working experience of urban design and planning, and gender inclusion.
Experience of presenting research outcomes to various audience.
Experience in empirical data collection.
Experience in preparing and conducting interviews or focus groups.
Experience of working in an urban context, assessing complex issues and identifying solutions which address the needs of multiple user groups.
Excellent knowledge of appropriate research methods.
Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize research data and information.
Ability to communicate complex information clearly both in written and visual formats.
Ability to use innovation and creativity to solve problems in research context.
Fluency in oral and written Arabic and English is a must.
Excellent analytical and writing skills in Arabic and English.
Strong interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to work under high pressure and carry out multi-tasks in simultaneous projects.
Self-motivation and willingness to learn.
Creativity and ability to seek and explore innovative solutions.
