About the job

The Project Planner will primarily focus on planning and monitoring the project activities from beginning to end. S/he will support the project team in developing schedules, allocating different resources, and tracking/reporting progress to the relevant parties to ensure the project is on track and according to the approved budget.

Key Result Areas

  • Work closely with the project team to develop a suitable Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and identify the required resources, timelines, milestones, dependencies, etc.;

  • Prepare realistic project schedules using appropriate tools such as Primavera or MS project;

  • Calculate the optimal resources' requirements and the critical path for each component/stage of the project;

  • Extract detailed task lists and work effort assessments from the project schedule and prepare short- and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from the team members;

  • Establish project baselines, support the project managers in Integrated Baseline Review, and conduct regular site visits to fill Inspection Checklists for construction works and other project activities;

  • Monitor and interface with project managers on gathering actual data, updating project schedules, deliverables' progress, and actual expenditure to update estimate-to-complete and develop reliable schedule forecasts with support from the project team;

  • Analyze, evaluate, and forecast the current project status against the baseline schedule, assessing the impacts of design or construction changes to the schedule;

  • Work with the project team to allocate budgets for the different activities, develop cost control measures, prepare cash flows, procurement plans, and expenditure forecasts, and track and report on the project expenditure (in coordination with the project's Finance Manager);

  • Develop Bi-Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Progress Reports and Project Closing Reports, including Schedule Variance, Cost Variance, Earned Value, and other relevant information to identify and analyze deviations (if any), identify risks, and enable the project management to take recovery plans and mitigation measures (if required);

  • Coordinate and execute schedule change management process to approve changes;

  • Train and orient in-house team members on project management tasks and procedures and provide basic training to the team on the Primavera / MS Project software.

Requirements

Qualification:

  • B. Sc. in Engineering or equivalent university degree in a related area of study;

  • Preferred PMP Certification, CCE/CCC certification, or any other relevant certificates;

Experience:

  • 10-15 years of relevant project planning and cost control experience. Experience in   engineering and construction projects environment would be required;

  • Experience working with project management plans (PMP) and plans, specifications, and   estimates (PS&E);

  • Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., critical path method, progress   measurement, and earned value technique) and experience in cost monitoring, analyzing, and reporting;

Skills:

  • Fluency in oral and written Arabic and English is a must;

  • Excellent computer skills in using (i.e., MS Excel, MS Project, Primavera) or any other   relevant software;

  • Understanding the sequencing of work and the strategy for creating effective project   schedules;

  • Working knowledge of the general project controls policies and procedures;

  • Working knowledge of regular financial processes, preferably in construction or   engineering projects, is an asset;

  • Excellent reporting, communication, and presentation skills;

Office Location:

  • The   Project Planner will work at Takween's office in Maadi (Cairo), with regular site visits to Esna (Luxor Governorate);
