Takween ICD is seeking a motivated and experienced GIS Expert to join our Urban Studies and Research Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience working on urban planning and development projects, with strong technical capabilities in geospatial analysis, mapping, and data management, and a proven ability to stay updated on emerging GIS tools and workflows.
Key Result Areas
Leading and supporting GIS tasks across projects, including spatial analysis, high quality map production, and data visualization aligned with urban planning and research objectives.
Developing and maintaining geospatial databases; ensuring data quality and proper documentation/archiving.
Applying innovative approaches and updated tools to improve efficiency and strengthen analysis and communication.
Supporting capacity-building activities, including training workshops on GIS tools, workflows, and interpretation of results.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography or a related field.
Skills
- 5 - 10 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in urban planning, urban development, or climate resilience projects.
- Strong skills in spatial data management, analysis, and visualization, including producing high-quality maps and spatial outputs for reports and presentations.
- Experience developing GIS workflows for urban analysis and integrating multi-source datasets.
- Innovative mindset with demonstrated ability to adopt and apply new tools and methods.
Software
ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS, and Remote Sensing tools (e.g., Google Earth Engine or equivalent).
